Program Overview

This is a repeat program in its 3rd year, a produced customized program by joint companies LbE Japan and LbE Hawaii. A very small select-group of students from the Oita prefecture of southern Japan will come to Hawaii to learn about GLOBAL LEADERSHIP based off of their stay in Hawaii. Islanders will be responsible in making sure students truly soak in the educational opportunities while in Hawaii.

Program Theme

Global Leadership, how to feel aloha spirit and learn from it, Japanese culture in Hawaii, self-Identity and realizing one's potential

Islander Duties

• Escort Japanese students around the island based off of a set schedule as determined by the Facilitator
• Assist the group with communication, discussion, and critical thinking during program activities
• Create a HALE ALOHA presentation - cultural presentation representing your background. More info here.

Islander Qualifications

• Must be available for all dates and times listed below to participate in this program
• Strong English-Speaking skills (slow pronunciation, loud voice, easy vocabulary)
• Desired qualification - fun, outgoing, approachable personality
• Desired qualification - experience from other LbE Hawaii programs, but not required

• Downtown Honolulu Tour
• Project Paradise Standard Program
• Exploration UH Manoa (Scavenger Hunt across UH Manoa / tablet provided)
• Mouna Farm (Sustainability, Art & Leadership, Nature & Humanity)
• Exploration Waikiki (Scavenger Hunt across Waikiki / tablet provided)
• Special lunch lecture by Mrs. Fogarty of Fogarty Realty (learn from a successful LEADER in the community)
• Global Leadership Activity (create your own ideal community)
• Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii site visit
• Final Project Preparation & Presentation

**Monetary Compensation

Bronze (1~5 events completed) - $350.00 + 1,000 Paradise Points

Silver (6~10 events completed) - $375.00 + 1,250 Paradise Points

Gold (11~15 events completed) - $400.00 + 1,500 Paradise Points

Platinum (16+ events completed) - $425.00 + 1,750 Paradise Points
